HC Deb 02 April 1936 vol 310 c2113
32. Sir R. YOUNG

asked the Home Secretary whether the police have yet furnished him with information regarding the arrangements in vogue for applying the practice of taking the fingerprints of juveniles convicted at juvenile courts; and, if so, what these arrangements are?

Mr. LLOYD

My right hon. Friend is not in possession of detailed information regarding the procedure of the several police forces, but it is clear that at present there is considerable diversity of practice. The whole question is being considered in the light of the information my right hon. Friend has obtained from chief officers of Police relating to the volume and incidence of juvenile crime, and in the light of information as to their views regarding the conditions under which finger prints of juvenile offenders should be taken.

Sir R. YOUNG

Can we get full information regarding this matter, seeing that the hon. Gentleman said he was seeking information a month ago.

Mr. LLOYD

We are obtaining it at present.
