HC Deb 24 October 1935 vol 305 cc315-6
74. Mr. JANNER

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies how many telephones have been installed in Palestine during the last six months, and how many applications for telephones have been awaiting attention for periods exceeding three months?

Commander SOUTHBY

The answer to the first part of the question is 1,482, and to the second 1,342. With a view to relieving the situation approval has been given for the immediate purchase of relief exchange equipment pending the installation of the proposed new automatic exchanges.

Mr. H. WILLIAMS

Can my hon. and gallant Friend say how many of these were for Italians and how many for the new Leader of the Liberal party?
