HC Deb 24 October 1935 vol 305 c318
78. Captain P. MACDONALD

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether any official representations have recently been made to him by the British Columbia authorities with regard to Soviet competition in timber; and, if so, whether he can state the nature and the present position of the controversy?

The PRESIDENT of the BOARD of TRADE (Mr. Runciman)

I had some discussion in the summer with the High Commissioner for Canada regarding a reduction which had then occurred in the price of Russian timber. No subsequent representations have reached me, but the High Commissioner has informed me that further representations will be made very shortly.
