§ Mr. E. BROWNThe share of the employed persons in the increased unemployment insurance contributions paid from 5th October, 1931, to 30th September, 1935, was approximately £24,500,000. The reduction in the amount of benefit, chargeable to the insurance account of the fund, by reason of the lower rates of benefit which were operative during the period 17th October, 1931, to 30th June, 1934, was about £15,000,000.
