HC Deb 22 May 1935 vol 302 cc347-8
55. Mr. G. MACDONALD

asked the Home Secretary whether he is aware of the long delay involved in getting a settlement of claims of persons certified as suffering from silicosis; and whether, in view of the anxiety caused by the delay, he will take the necessary action to expedite a settlement of all such cases?

Sir J. GILMOUR

No, Sir, I am not aware of the delay complained of, but if the hon. Member will furnish me with particulars of the cases he has in mind, I will consider whether it is possible for me to take any action in the direction suggested.

Mr. MACDONALD

Does not the right hon. Gentleman consider that the procedure prescribed in the silicosis order in itself causes delay?
