HC Deb 09 May 1935 vol 301 cc1119-20
15. Mr. SPENCER

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education whether he will draw the attention of local education authorities to the undesirability of subjecting the physical training of boys in senior schools to the supervision of women inspectors?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of EDUCATION (Mr. Ramsbotham)

The views of the Board on this matter are contained in the answer given to my hon. Friend the Member for Willesden (Mrs. Tate) on 2nd May, and I think that authorities generally are well aware of them.

Mr. SPENCER

Will the hon. Member bear in mind that inspection of senior boys by a woman is most objectionable to the boys themselves?

Viscountess ASTOR

Will the hon. Member look into this matter and find out whether it is really true, or whether it is not simply a case of prejudice against women?
