HC Deb 07 March 1935 vol 298 c2125
51. Mr. GRAHAM WHITE (for Mr. ISAAC FOOT)

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he is aware that the Italian Ministry of Finance has authorised goods originating in and coming from Germany, Bulgaria, Jugoslavia, Rumania, Turkey, Hungary and Uruguay to be imported in the proportion of 100 per cent, of the quantity imported by any Italian firm from the countries in question during the period 19th February to 31st March, 1934; and whether a similar concession will be asked for in respect of commodities imported by Italy from Britain and now subjected to quota restriction?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

I understand that the facts are substantially as stated in the first part of the question. As regards the second part, I can assure my hon. Friend that this point is not being overlooked in our discussions with the Italian Government.
