HC Deb 05 March 1935 vol 298 c1733
37. Mr MANDER

asked the Secretary of State for India whether he has any statement to make with reference to the recent attempted corner in shellac as affecting the Indian lac industry; and whether any action is proposed to prevent in future the disturbance caused by gambling and speculation on the London produce market to this important Indian industry?

The SECRETARY of STATE for INDIA (Sir Samuel Hoare)

I am asking the Government of India for a report as to the effects on the Indian industry. As regards the second part of the question, I have nothing to add to the replies given on behalf of the Board of Trade and Treasury to recent questions of a similar Mature.
