HC Deb 05 March 1935 vol 298 cc1755-6
59. Mr. SMEDLEY CROOKE

asked the Minister of Health whether he is aware that, in accordance with the sanction of his Department, a part of Glover Street, in the city of Birmingham, has been scheduled as a slum-clearance area, and that a number of houses have been demolished and the tenants turned out; and whether, as this area is now waste land, he will take steps to secure the immediate erection on the site of suitable houses or maisonettes for the people's use to be near their work, in accordance with the undertaking given when the order was made?

Mr. SHAKESPEARE

The reply to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. As regards the second part, tenders for the erection of 26 maisonettes on this site have now been submitted to my right hon. Friend and were approved yesterday.
