asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will give detailed particulars of the restrictions now plaecd upon imports into this country of bacon and ham, in respect of each individual country, showing the reductions in the quota in the case of each country?

A statement of the quantities of bacon (as defined in the Bacon (Import Regulation) Order, 1934) to be imported from each of the main foreign exporting countries during the period January to April, 1935, was published in the Board of Trade Journal of 3rd January, a copy of which I am sending the hon. Member. The basic allocation shown represents a total reduction of 3.8 per cent. as compared with the period August to December, 1934. In the case of Denmark, to which country certain arrears were due, the reduction amounts to 2 per cent.; in the case of the other countries shown it amounts to 8.3 per cent
