HC Deb 25 June 1935 vol 303 c922
2. Lieut.-Colonel HENEAGE

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether Territorial officers belonging to anti-aircraft defence units are encouraged to take flights in Royal Air Force machines?

Mr. HACKING

Yes, Sir.

Lieut.-Colonel HENEAGE

Will the right hon. Gentleman look into the question of the certificate which Territorial officers are forced to sign that the War Office are not responsible in case of accident? Does he consider that is an encouragement to Territorial officers to go up in an aeroplane?

Mr. HACKING

I will look into that matter.

Captain HAROLD BALFOUR

May I ask whether these flights are part of the duty of these officers or only a matter of interest? Are they officially or unofficially encouraged?

Mr. HACKING

They are officially encouraged. It is a regulation that they should be encouraged, and it is part of the training of these officers that they should go up in the air.
