HC Deb 06 June 1935 vol 302 c2023
Mr. GORDON MACDONALD

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education the number of inquiries held by the Department into the reasons for the dismissal or the resignation of a teacher employed by a local education authority; and the number of cases where the teacher was re-employed by the local education authority?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of EDUCATION (Mr. Ramsbotham)

The Board does not inquire into the reasons for the dismissal or resignation of teachers except in cases where a teacher is convicted of a criminal offence or where his engagement is terminated on account of misconduct or grave professional default. If the hon. Member has cases of this sort in mind I shall be glad to furnish him with such information as he may desire, if he will communicate with me.
