HC Deb 06 June 1935 vol 302 c2028
28. Mr. MABANE

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he pro poses to take any steps to ratify the Lausanne agreement on reparations during the lifetime of this Parliament?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I would refer my hon. Friend to the answer which was given to him on the 7thNovember last, to which at present I cannot add any thing.

Mr. MABANE

May I ask my right hon. Friend whether, since that answer was given, he has taken any steps to pro vide the proper conditions precedent to ratifications, that is to say, an arrangement with America on our debt to her?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I have not seen any changes in the conditions which would warrant such steps.

Mr. MABANE

Then are we to assume that those negotiations with America are still being continued?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

No, Sir.
