HC Deb 05 June 1935 vol 302 c1848
22. Mr. SMEDLEY CROOKE

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether it is proposed to establish service aerodromes in the distressed areas under the new scheme?

Sir VICTOR WARRENDER(Comptroller of the Household)

I have been asked to reply. The needs of the distressed areas are borne constantly in mind, but, generally speaking, they are unsuitable for operational aerodromes, partly because of strategical requirements and partly on account of the nature of the terrain. The Air Ministry would, however, welcome any suggestions for suitable sites in any of these areas for coastal air firing ranges with their accompanying aerodromes.
