§ 7. Mr. COCKSasked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what progress has been made towards the conclusion of an Eastern pact of non-aggression; whether he has received any reply to the explanation given to the German Government of the views of His Majesty's Government on the subject; and what is the present standpoint of the German Government on the question?
§ Sir S. HOAREIn regard to the first part of the question the position is still that indicated in the speech which I made in the course of the Debate on 11th July. In regard to the second and third parts, I have received no communication from the German Government.
§ Mr. COCKSDoes it not appear that the German Government are showing very little enthusiasm for the conclusion of this pact?
§ Sir S. HOAREI think that I had better wait and see developments before I express an opinion.
