HC Deb 18 July 1935 vol 304 cc1193-4
6. Sir MURDOCH McKENZIE WOOD

asked the Minister of Labour whether he has yet received the report of the Unemployment Insurance Statutory Committee on the seasonal workers regulations; and what action he proposes to take regarding it?

Mr. E. BROWN

A report on this subject has been made by the committee, and is receiving my consideration.

Sir M. McKENZIE WOOD

When will it be published?

Mr. BROWN

Without any avoidable delay.

Sir M. McKENZIE WOOD

Will it be published forthwith?

Mr. BROWN

Within two months.

Sir M. McKENZIE WOOD

Does not the Act provide that the report should be laid before the House forthwith?

Mr. BROWN

I think that that is not quite, accurate. I assure my hon. Friend that there will be no avoidable delay.

Mr. MAXTON

Is there any chance of action being taken before the end of the Session?

Mr. BROWN

I must complete my consideration first.
