HC Deb 16 July 1935 vol 304 cc874-6
12. Mr. ERNEST YOUNG (for Mr. GRAHAM WHITE)

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether it will be necessary to submit a Supplementary Estimate in connection with the expenditure foreshadowed by the recent circular to local authorities in connection with possible gas attack from the air?

Mr. JAMES STUART (Lord of the Treasury)

I have been asked to reply. No, Sir. It is anticipated that the expenditure to be incurred in the current financial year will not exceed the provision made in the original Estimate for

1935 (subhead N of the Home Office Estimate).

Mr. LOGAN

Does that mean that people on public assistance will be able to get gas masks supplied to them?
