HC Deb 11 July 1935 vol 304 cc475-6
17. Sir W. JENKINS

asked the President of the Board of Education what steps, if any, are being taken by the Board to provide in elementary schools in England and Wales dining-halls, gymnasia, shower-baths and changing-rooms; and can he give the number of schools that have these provisions at present?

Mr. STANLEY

Where circumstances justify the provision of such additions to the normal school buildings of a public elementary school, the Board are prepared to sanction their provision and to take the expenditure into account for the calculation of grant to the local education authority. I regret that I am unable to answer the second part of the question.
