HC Deb 09 July 1935 vol 304 c158
46. Mr. T. WILLIAMS

asked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the heavy burden placed on ratepayers where the authority is obliged to secure the passage of a Bill through the Lords and Commons Houses of Parliament, he will consider alternative means of dealing with private legislation?

The PRIME MINISTER

I would remind the hon. Member that the question of the procedure on Private Bill Legislation was examined by a Select Committee as recently as 1930, and certain of their recommendations have been adopted which do in fact reduce expense. I do not think that the time is expedient for a further inquiry.
