§ 46. Mr. T. WILLIAMSasked the Prime Minister whether, in view of the heavy burden placed on ratepayers where the authority is obliged to secure the passage of a Bill through the Lords and Commons Houses of Parliament, he will consider alternative means of dealing with private legislation?
§ The PRIME MINISTERI would remind the hon. Member that the question of the procedure on Private Bill Legislation was examined by a Select Committee as recently as 1930, and certain of their recommendations have been adopted which do in fact reduce expense. I do not think that the time is expedient for a further inquiry.
