Captain CROOKSHANKThe average time spent in the mine by coal miners in Great Britain, including one winding time, is eight hours. The average length of the winding time—approximately 30 minutes—was ascertained after careful inquiry in 1930 and I am not aware of any circumstances that can have caused any appreciable change since that time.
