The object of the visits of the Chief of the Imperial General Staff to Egypt, the Sudan and Palestine is to inspect the training of the troops in the discharge of his ordinary duties. The visits of the Inspector of Fixed Defences to Singapore, Hong Kong, Colombo land Aden are similarly incidental to his normal duties of inspection.
