HC Deb 21 February 1935 vol 298 cc535-6
69. Captain CUNNINGHAM-REID

asked the Secretary of State for India whether his attention has been drawn to the warning recently given by the director of the malaria, survey of India against the danger of yellow fever being introduced into India, by infected mosquitoes in aeroplanes; and whether he will give instructions for the carrying out of the experiments with marked mosquitoes advocated by this official?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for INDIA (Mr. Butler)

I have seen a Press report on the subject, which is one that comes within the control of the authorities in India. The Government of India are keenly alive to the danger and have been giving the problem their earnest consideration for some years. I am quite sure that any suggestions made by the director of the Malaria Survey will receive their close and urgent attention.
