HC Deb 21 February 1935 vol 298 c527
49. Mr. POTTER

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether, after the disclosures in the collapse of James and Shakespeare, he will, when amending the Companies Act of 1929, consider adding a new clause to provide that, when shares in a company are transferred to nominees as holders, the transfers, in addition to stating the names of the nominees, shall also state the names of the beneficial owners, and that the names of the nominees and of the beneficial owners also shall be recorded on the share register of the company concerned?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

The suggestion of my hon. Friend has been noted for investigation when the amendment of the Companies Act is under consideration.
