HC Deb 19 December 1935 vol 307 cc1952-3
109. Mr. HICKS

asked the First Commissioner of Works whether a decision has now been reached to proceed with the building of the new Government offices in Whitehall?

The FIRST COMMISSIONER of WORKS (Mr. Ormsby-Gore)

Yes, Sir. The scheme, however, has not yet been settled in all its details, but I hope that the final plans and elevations, with a model of the building, will be available to hon. Members in the Tea Room shortly after the House resumes after the Christmas Recess.

Mr. GALLACHER

Is there any intention of erecting a building for a legislative assembly; and is the right hon. Gentleman aware that in any other public assembly the responsible people would be prosecuted on account of the inadequacy of the accommodation?
