HC Deb 19 December 1935 vol 307 c1952
100. Mr. McENTEE

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether he is aware that short-service temporary clerks employed by His Majesty's collector of taxes are discharged at the end of each 13 weeks and re-emrloyed after one week's unemployment; that their wages when employed are £2 13s. 4d. per week; and that they are debarred from drawing unemployment benefit for four weeks in each year when out of work; and whether he will take the necessary steps to abolish this system, so as to enable these employés to be regularly employed?

Mr. W. S. MORRISON

Steps have already been taken to discontinue the practice to which the hon. Member refers.
