HC Deb 10 December 1935 vol 307 c741
62. Mr. PRICE

asked the Minister of Transport what opportunities will be offered before this House for stating the case of those who see in the construction of a bridge across the Severn at English-stones a danger to the trade and commercial interests of the Upper Severn ports and towns?

Captain HUDSON

A Bill has been deposited by the Gloucestershire and Monmouthshire County Councils for authority to construct the proposed bridge, so that ample opportunity will be afforded to interests concerned of presenting their cases to Parliament.

Mr. PERKINS

Have not the Government already offered 75 per cent. of the cost of this bridge?

Captain HUDSON

There has been a Government grant, and there will have to be a Parliamentary Bill, which can be debated in the House.
