HC Deb 10 December 1935 vol 307 cc744-5
69. Mr. T. WILLIAMS

asked the Minister of Agriculture what quantity of English-grown wheat of millable quality on which deficiency payments are made is sold for feeding meals; and the average price received for it?

Mr. RAMSBOTHAM

Under the Wheat Act, 1932, deficiency payments are made to growers on all properly certified sales of millable wheat of their own growing without regard to the use which may be made of the wheat when sold. I have no information regarding the quantity of English-grown wheat sold for feeding meals or the average prices received for such wheat.

Mr. WILLIAMS

Can the hon. Member ascertain what quantity of millable wheat we can depend upon for feeding pigs?

Mr. RAMSBOTHAM

It will be generally agreed that the Wheat Act is working extremely well.
