HC Deb 10 December 1935 vol 307 cc725-6
32. Lieut.-Colonel MOORE

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the present position with regard to the inquiry into the question of irregular marriages in Scotland?

Sir G. COLLINS

Letters of invitation have been issued, and I hope shortly to be in a position to announce the personnel of the Committee of Inquiry and its terms of reference.

Lieut.-Colonel MOORE

In view of the fact that a certain number of English girls are involved in these irregular marriages, especially at Gretna, will the right hon. Gentleman consider the advisability of putting an English member on the committee in addition to a Scotsman?

Sir G. COLLINS

I am afraid not. It is a purely Scottish matter.
