§ The PRIME MINISTERI am unable to adopt this course. A similar suggestion was carefully considered in 1932 734 in connection with the recommendations of the Select Committee on Procedure, but His Majesty's Government did not feel able to adopt it as it involved a major departure from present constitutional practice and was otherwise open to serious objection. I am sending my hon. Friend a copy of a statement made in the House on 2nd May, 1933, when announcing the decision of His Majesty's Government.
