HC Deb 09 December 1935 vol 307 c553
48. Mr. LOFTUS

asked the Minister of Labour whether, in view of the pledge given by the Lord Advocate on 12th February last that the question of unemployment insurance of share fishermen should be dealt with by the Unemployment Statutory Committee, and that there would not be any undue delay, he is now in a position to say whether a Bill for this purpose will be introduced this Session?

Lieut.-Colonel MUIRHEAD

This question is to be brought before the Unemployment Insurance Statutory Committee in the near future.

Viscountess ASTOR

Can the hon. and gallant Gentleman give us any idea what he means by "the near future"?

Major MUIRHEAD

No, I could not define "near future" in specific terms, but I would remind the Noble Lady that the question with which the Committee is concerned at present is a fairly substantial subject.
