HC Deb 09 December 1935 vol 307 cc552-3
46. Mr. DAVID ADAMS

asked the Minister of Labour why the case of appeal by the Durham Miners' Association in relation to unemployment benefit for the workmen who were employed at the Beamish Air pit has been withheld, and why the case has not been placed before the umpire?

Lieut.-Colonel MUIRHEAD

The case was forwarded to the umpire on 2nd December, and I understand that arrangements have been made for an oral hearing on 20th December. The reason why this case was held up for a short time was that there was another case pending at the same time relating to the same facts, and it was necessary to allow a fortnight for the Association to make observations with regard to the latter case.
