HC Deb 09 December 1935 vol 307 c556
58. Mr. EDE

asked the Minister of Health whether he intends to introduce legislation this Session to implement the recommendations of the Departmental Committee on National Parks?

Sir K. WOOD

I can hold out no hope of legislation this Session. By the exercise of their powers, particularly under the Town and Country Planning Act, 1932, local authorities are making steady progress in the acquisition or reservation of land for public open spaces and in the control of premature building operations and will continue to receive all the help and encouragement in these matters which I am able to give them.

Mr. EDE

In future should questions on this matter be addressed to the right hon. Gentleman or to the Minister of Agriculture, as was formerly the case?

Sir K. WOOD

I will consult my right hon. Friend about that, and let the hon. Member know.

Mr. H. G. WILLIAMS

Pending legislation, will my right hon. Friend take steps to stop the London County Council building on national parks?
