HC Deb 09 December 1935 vol 307 c537
14. Mr. THURTLE

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether His Majesty's Government have indicated, or will indicate, to the Egyptian Government that it would view favourably the restoration of constitutional government in Egypt on the basis of the constitution of 1930, pending the creation of a more satisfactory constitution?

Mr. EDEN

I have nothing to add to the statement which my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs made on this subject on Thursday last.

Mr. THURTLE

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that that statement was silent on this very point?

Mr. EDEN

I am aware of what that statement said, and I am also aware that I can add nothing to it.
