HC Deb 17 April 1935 vol 300 c1844
46. Mr. MALLALIEU

asked the Prime Minister whether any statement has been made on behalf of the German Government to the effect that it would be prepared to disarm to any degree upon which international agreement can be obtained; and, if not, to what extent has the German Government declared itself willing to go towards disarmament in concert with the other Powers?

The PRIME MINISTER

The latest statement made by the German Government on this subject is that reported to the House by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs on 9th April, and I would refer the hon. Member to columns 985 and 986 in the OFFICIAL REPORT

Mr. MALLALIEU

May not the House have some further elucidation of that part of the statement referred to by the right hon. Gentleman in his reply, which is to the effect that if other countries abandoned certain types Germany would do the same?

The PRIME MINISTER

The hon. Member might address that question to my right hon. Friend who made the statement.
