HC Deb 10 April 1935 vol 300 c1152
69. Mr. HALL-CAINE

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what would be the approximate annual cost of remitting the entertainments duty upon dramatic, variety and musical performances in this country; and by what amount this cost is exceeded by the increase, over the past 10 years, of revenue from mechanised entertainment such as wireless and cinemas?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Mr. Duff Cooper)

I regret that figures are not available which would enable me to draw the comparison desired by my hon. Friend.
