§ Mr. STANLEYThe numbers of unemployed persons on the registers of employment exchanges (including Juvenile Employment Bureaux) in Lancashire at 26th October, 1931, and 22nd October, 1934, were respectively, 528,492 and 385,915. Statistics of the numbers of persons unemployed in individual industries are only available in respect of persons insured against unemployment. The numbers of such persons aged 16 to 64 recorded as unemployed in the coal 986 mining industry in Lancashire at these dates were respectively, 35,599 and 23,676; the corresponding figures for the cotton industry were 162,699 and 94,290.
§ 5. Mr. R. J. RUSSELLasked the Minister of Labour the number of males over 18 years of age who were registered as unemployed at Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Glasgow, and Edinburgh on the 1st September, 1932, 1933, and 1934?
