32. Captain CAZALETasked the President of the Board of Trade what steps His Majesty's Government have taken or propose to take to develop increase of trade between this country and Spain?
§ Mr. RUNCIMANThe possibility of increasing trade between this country and Spain is receiving the active consideration of the Government. In this connection my hon. and gallant Friend will no doubt have seen a recent announcement in the Press regarding the despatch to Spain of officials of the Department of Overseas Trade, who are now in that country investigating the trade position.
Captain CAZALETCan the right hon. Gentleman say whether these officials are authorised to discuss the liquidation of certain accounts between this country and Spain about which His Majesty's Government have already made representations to the Spanish Government?
§ Mr. RUNCIMANYes, if, and when, the opportunity arises of further discussing these matters, I think they will be in a proper position to deal with them, but I should like to have notice.
§ Mr. CHARLES WILLIAMSWill the right hon. Gentleman do nothing to encourage the importation of Spanish vegetables into this country?
