HC Deb 29 November 1934 vol 295 c991
40. Mr. GUY

asked the Minister of Transport whether he can make a statement as to whether the operation of the new silence zones has proved generally satisfactory?

The MINISTER of TRANSPORT (Mr. Hore-Belisha)

Yes, Sir, I have overwhelming evidence that the operation of the silent zone has contributed greatly to the general comfort without constituting a source of danger.

Is the hon. Member also of the opinion that it has resulted in rather more careful driving by motorists at night?

Yes, Sir.
