§ 3. Sir A. WILSONasked the Home Secretary whether the only extant selection of circulars and statutory rules 232 issued from the Home Office to justices and justices' clerks are those published in 1919 and 1925; and, if so, whether he will consider the publication and circulation to all justices as well as to their clerks of a fresh collection, including such circulars and statutory rules as are still in force?
§ Sir J. GILMOURThe current selections of circulars issued from the Home Office to justices and justices' clerks are those which were published in 1914 and 1925, covering respectively the periods 1883–1913 and 1914–1925. The possibility of publishing a further selection of such circulars will be considered.
§ Sir A. WILSONWill my right hon. Friend consider the desirability of publishing a single complete circular covering the whole period, as it is very difficult for justices without some such circular to realise what ought to be done?
§ Sir J. GILMOURI will consider that suggestion.
§ 5. Captain CUNNINGHAM - REIDasked the Home Secretary whether his attention has been directed to the suggestion contained in the report of the Departmental Committee on Imprisonment by the Courts of Summary Jurisdiction in default of payment of fines and other sums of money to the effect that the conditions of service of clerks to justices and of their assistants appear to call for investigation and consideration by a committee specially appointed for the purpose; and whether he proposes to appoint such a committee?
§ Sir J. GILMOURThe report of the Committee is under consideration, but I am not at present in a position to make any statement on the matter to which my hon. and gallant Friend refers.
