HC Deb 22 November 1934 vol 295 c231
2. Lieut.-Colonel Sir ARNOLD WILSON

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether his attention has been called to the apparent increase of fatal and other accidents, especially to juveniles, in connection with electric lifts in hotels, offices, shops, restaurants, flats, and other non-factory premises; whether all such accidents are reportable and, if so, to whom; and whether he is satisfied that everything possible is being done to prevent such casualties?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Sir John Gilmour)

The answer to all three parts of the question is in the negative; I have no powers as regards dangerous practices or safeguards on lifts at such premises, but if my hon. and gallant Friend can furnish me with any particulars, I will certainly consider them.
