HC Deb 08 November 1934 vol 293 cc1281-2
70. Mr. PALING (for Mr. T. WILLIAMS)

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether the design for the K-type of submarine was given to the Government of any other nation and, if so, which Governments; the dates when such arrangements were made; and what were the terms of these arrangements?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the ADMIRALTY (Lord Stanley)

The design of the K-type of submarine has not been given to the Government of any other nation, but the hon. Member probably has in mind the gift of the design of the "L" class submarine to Japan at a time when she was our ally during the late War.
