§ 31. Mr. WILMOTasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will give the House his assurance that Treasury sanction will not be given to any loan to Japan or Manchukuo in view of the refusal of Japan to fulfil her obligations 1260 under the covenant of the League of Nations?
Mr. CHAMBERLAINIt is impossible for me to give general assurances. If a case of the kind suggested were to arise in relation to any foreign country it would have to be considered on its merits.
