HC Deb 31 May 1934 vol 290 cc357-8
49. Mr. TEMPLE MORRIS

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if any countries have recognised Manchukuo; and what action the British Government proposes to take at the next meeting of the Assembly of the League of Nations, in view of the decision that all nations belonging to the League should not adopt this policy?

Mr. BALDWIN

As my hon. Friend is no doubt aware, the Japanese Government some time ago accorded recognition to the present régime in Manchuria. I am informed that similar action has now been taken by the Government of San Salvador. As regards the second part of the question, I am not in a position to make any statement.
