HC Deb 16 May 1934 vol 289 cc1907-8

Lords Amendment : In page 3, line 3, after "water," insert "into a canal or."

11.14 p.m.

The MINISTER of HEALTH (Sir Hilton Young)

I beg to move, "That this House doth agree with the Lords in the said Amendment."

The Amendments do not touch on any question of principle in the Bill. It will be seen that the words "into a canal" have been inserted in Clause 1, page 3, line 3, and also in the definition of compensation water in Clause 10, page 10, line 22. These are the only Amendments of any substance and have been inserted simply to provide for the case, a rare one, where compensation water is discharged direct into a canal. All the other Amendments are of a drafting nature and have been inserted to tidy up the wording.

Subsequent Lords Amendments, to page 5, line 10, agreed to.
