§ Mr. RUNCIMANI am aware of the increase in the imports mentioned by my hon. Friend in the first part of the question. The answer to the second part of the question is in the negative.

WARDLAW-MILNEIf it is impossible to take any action in the case of imports from India—and we are all anxious to improve Indian trade wherever we can, as India is a buyer of our goods —is it not possible to support this industry in another way, namely, by limiting the importation of carpets from foreign countries?
