HC Deb 08 May 1934 vol 289 cc916-7
44. Captain CROOKSHANK

asked the Minister of Labour whether, in view of the assurances that it would be treated as a non-controversial Measure, he is now prepared to introduce a Bill to antedate from 1st July the restoration of the cuts on unemployment benefits?

Sir H. BETTERTON

This was fully discussed in the Debate on 2nd May, and I cannot add to what was then said.

Captain CROOKSHANK

Are we to understand that this is quite final, then?

Sir H. BETTERTON

Yes, Sir.

Captain CROOKSHANK

May I ask why?

Sir H. BETTERTON

For the reason that I stated in the Debate.
