HC Deb 01 May 1934 vol 289 c144
57. Sir GIFFORD FOX

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office whether, with a view to preventing the purchase as Army remounts in Northern Ireland of horses which have been smuggled over the border from the Irish Free State, he will take steps, in the interest of the horse-breeding industry in Great Britain and Northern Ireland, to obtain sufficient particulars with regard to remounts so purchased in order to ensure that they are not from the Irish Free State?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the WAR OFFICE (Mr. Duff Cooper)

I would refer my hon. Friend to the answer given to the hon. Member for Dorset East (Mr. Hall-Caine) on 22nd February, to which I have nothing to add.
