HC Deb 21 March 1934 vol 287 cc1201-2
24. Dr. HOWITT

asked the Minister of Transport whether any increases in fares or restrictions of services have been put into effect since the London Passenger Transport Board assumed control?

Mr. STANLEY

I am informed by the Board that, apart from minor adjustments rendered necessary by the amalgamation of services previously operated by different persons, there have been no increases in fares or restrictions of services, and that the adjustments of fares have more generally taken the form of a reduction than of an increase.

Commander MARSDEN

The hon. Gentleman says more often than not changes have meant a decrease. Does that mean that occasionally there has been an increase?

Mr. STANLEY

Yes. I said apart from minor adjustments rendered necessary by the amalgamation of services previously operated by different persons.
