Mr. REMERasked the President of the Board of Trade if, in the negotiations with the French Government, he will give an undertaking that the recommendations of the Import Duties Advisory Committee as to the silk industry will be taken into consideration, and that no final agreement will be arrived at without full consultation with that committee?
§ Mr. RUNCIMANIn the course of the forthcoming negotiations with the French Government the interests of the United Kingdom industries likely to be affected will be borne in mind and full consideration will be given to any information and advice regarding those industries that the Import Duties Advisory Committee may be able to give.
