HC Deb 21 June 1934 vol 291 c543
35. Mr. LIDDALL

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether, in view of the increased importation of foreign peas, he will grant the National Mark to all English-grown peas, in addition to the mark on fresh-pulled canned peas, whether the peas are in cans, cartons or sacks?

Sir G. BOWYER

National Mark schemes are already in operation for fresh green peas and for fresh-picked peas produced and canned in England and Wales. Schemes for peas marketed in other forms have been under consideration, and, if my right hon. Friend were assured that they would receive the support of a substantial part of the industries concerned, he would be happy to make the necessary regulations. So far this support has not been forthcoming.
